A section of Aberdeen Beach is partly closed after the most northern groyne failed south of the River Don. The lower esplanade still has limited access, but coastal paths north of the barrier are shut.

Jim Glennie, one of Scotland’s last surviving D-Day veterans, has died aged 100. The former Gordon Highlander landed on Sword Beach at 18, survived injury and captivity, and later spent decades volunteering in Aberdeen.
Aberdeen’s Baird Family Hospital and Anchor Cancer Centre is now headed for another delay, with costs up to £438m and a new National Oversight Board brought in to take control of recovery planning.
