A private boat day in Phuket can mean a small speedboat for a few friends or a motor yacht with room for a celebration. Those are very different bookings, so comparing the headline prices alone will only get you so far.
Start with your group size, the route you want and how long you would like to spend on the water. Then use published prices as a reference before asking for a quote that covers your actual plans.

Phuket Private Boat Prices: What the Figures Cover
Phuket Rating publishes a monthly index of 84 boats. Its October 2026 edition uses listings from one provider, Horizon Cruises Phuket. It is a catalogue snapshot, rather than a survey of the entire Phuket charter market.
The figures use each boat’s lowest listed non-peak rate and cheapest qualifying route. Across 81 boats with full-day prices in Thai baht, the median is ฿90,000. The middle half fall between ฿59,900 and ฿140,000; the mean is ฿129,700. These are crewed charter prices for the whole boat, before applicable extras.
| Boat type | Median full-day price | Boats used in this median |
|---|---|---|
| Sailing catamaran | ฿46,900 | 13 |
| Speedboat | ฿70,000 | 9 |
| Power catamaran | ฿77,400 | 18 |
| Motor yacht | ฿140,000 | 40 |
Use the category that matches your plans. Comparing a speedboat quote with a large motor yacht tells you little about value. Ask about shade, seating, toilets, boarding access and the time spent travelling between stops, alongside the price.
Is a Half-Day Charter Better Value?
The reported half-day median is ฿64,400 across 56 boats. Separately, comparing half-day and full-day prices on the same boat gives a median ratio of 77%. That percentage is not calculated by dividing the two overall medians.
Request both options for your chosen vessel. Check the actual departure and return times, the route and whether lunch and hotel transfers are included. A full day may suit a relaxed island outing, while a shorter trip can work better around children’s routines or other plans.
Ask how much of each itinerary is spent cruising and how much is available for swimming or going ashore. Extra hours are useful only if they give you the kind of day you want.

Calculate the Cost Per Person From Your Group Quote
Divide the confirmed total by the number of people actually travelling. Maximum passenger capacity can exceed the guest allowance included in a base rate, so dividing that rate by capacity may understate the cost.
For an illustrative example, a ฿70,000 charter plus ฿8,000 in agreed extras costs ฿78,000. Split between ten paying guests, that is ฿7,800 each. This is a budgeting example, not a current boat offer.
Confirm who is coming before collecting money, including children and anyone who needs help boarding. Ask how each passenger affects the quote and make sure the chosen vessel has suitable space for your whole group.
What to Check Before Paying a Deposit
Ask for one itemised quote covering your date, route and passenger count. Go through these details before deciding:
- Route and fuel: Which stops are agreed, and what happens to the price if you request a longer route or extra time?
- Guest allowance: How many people does the quoted rate include, and what do additional guests cost?
- Meals and drinks: Is lunch included, and can the crew accommodate dietary requirements?
- Transport: Does the booking include return transfers from your exact hotel?
- Fees: Are taxes, applicable park entry charges and other compulsory costs included?
- Equipment: Which snorkelling gear or other activities are supplied, and which require an additional payment?
- Payment terms: What deposit is required, when is the balance due and what are the cancellation conditions?
Keep competing quotes together in a simple spreadsheet. Our trip planning guide and free spreadsheet can help organise bookings alongside the rest of your holiday.
Check Peak Dates and Weather Arrangements
In the index, 68 boats have comparable peak rates, with a median uplift of 20% over their lowest non-peak full-day prices. Peak windows vary by boat.
Get a dated quote rather than adding a standard percentage yourself. Ask how long it remains valid and whether your preferred vessel is available before arranging the rest of the day around it.
Read the weather policy too. Find out what happens if departure is cancelled, the captain changes the route or you request a postponement. Check the Thai Meteorological Department’s forecasts and warnings before your trip, and follow the captain’s instructions on the day.
Include the Journey to the Pier
Common departure points in this catalogue include Ao Po Grand Marina, Chalong Pier, Boat Lagoon Marina and Royal Phuket Marina.
Confirm the exact meeting point and hotel pickup time. The time on the water is only part of your outing, so allow room for the road journey, boarding and the return transfer before booking dinner or another activity.
If the boat day is part of a longer holiday, our two-week Thailand itinerary offers ideas for fitting island time into a wider route.
Thinking About a Night Aboard?
The reported overnight median is ฿261,000 across 46 baht-priced packages, with a lowest listed rate of ฿100,000. These mix 24-hour charters with two-day, one-night trips.
Confirm embarkation and return times, sleeping capacity, cabin arrangements and meals. A vessel’s day capacity does not tell you how many people can sleep aboard comfortably.
Compare the Whole Day Before You Book
Use the published figures to narrow your search, then compare quotes for the same date, group size, route and duration. Ask each provider to explain what is included and give you the final amount payable.
The right booking is one that fits both your budget and your plans. Knowing the full cost before you leave the hotel makes it much easier to enjoy the day once you are aboard.
